“Until this summer, we used to cook with the other traditional stove. [Our kitchen] is a small room, which used to be filled with smoke from the stove. [The new stove] cooks faster, in about ten minutes. It also produces less smoke than the other one. … A lady from MRC [Multidimensional Resource Center, a local NGO] came up with the [new] stove. She said it would cook meals faster and would use less firewood. So I bought it for 2,000 rupees [US$19].”
