Faisal Mahmud

Abdur Rahim, Bangladesh

“I have been living in Kutubdia throughout my life. Like most of the people here, my father too was a salt farmer. We grew up in poverty. My father always wanted a better life for us. … In Chittagong, I had my first coffee. Since then, I have always wanted to open up a coffee shop in my area. There have been tea stalls here like other rural parts of Bangladesh, but the idea of opening up a coffee shop seemed impossible. After getting power from the solar plant, I bought a coffee machine and opened up my dream shop. People now come from distance to have coffee here.”
